Ideal Weight Calculator

This ideal weight calculator estimates your ideal weight range based on your height, gender, and body frame size. It uses several scientifically validated formulas to provide a comprehensive assessment of your healthy weight range.

How the Ideal Weight Calculator Works

This calculator uses several established formulas to estimate ideal weight:

Devine Formula (1974)

For Men:

Ideal Weight (kg) = 50 + 2.3 × (Height in inches - 60)

For Women:

Ideal Weight (kg) = 45.5 + 2.3 × (Height in inches - 60)

Hamwi Formula (1964)

For Men:

Ideal Weight (kg) = 48 + 2.7 × (Height in inches - 60)

For Women:

Ideal Weight (kg) = 45.5 + 2.2 × (Height in inches - 60)

Robinson Formula (1983)

For Men:

Ideal Weight (kg) = 52 + 1.9 × (Height in inches - 60)

For Women:

Ideal Weight (kg) = 49 + 1.7 × (Height in inches - 60)

Miller Formula (1983)

For Men:

Ideal Weight (kg) = 56.2 + 1.41 × (Height in inches - 60)

For Women:

Ideal Weight (kg) = 53.1 + 1.36 × (Height in inches - 60)

BMI-based Method

This method calculates the weight range that corresponds to a healthy BMI (18.5-24.9):

Weight (kg) = BMI × (Height in meters)²

Body Frame Size Adjustment

The calculator adjusts the ideal weight based on frame size:

  • Small Frame: Subtract 10% from the calculated ideal weight
  • Medium Frame: No adjustment
  • Large Frame: Add 10% to the calculated ideal weight

These formulas provide estimates based on statistical averages. Individual factors such as muscle mass, body composition, age, and overall health should be considered when determining your personal healthy weight. Consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice.
