Grade Calculator
This grade calculator helps you determine your current grade, weighted average, and final grade requirements. Track your academic performance by entering your assignments, tests, and exams with their respective weights to calculate your overall grade.
How the Grade Calculator Works
The grade calculator uses weighted averages to determine your current grade and predict what you need on future assessments to achieve your desired final grade.
Weighted Average Formula
The weighted average is calculated using the following formula:
Weighted Average = (Grade₁ × Weight₁ + Grade₂ × Weight₂ + ... + Gradeₙ × Weightₙ) ÷ (Weight₁ + Weight₂ + ... + Weightₙ)
Where:
- Grade₁, Grade₂, ..., Gradeₙ are the grades you received on each assessment
- Weight₁, Weight₂, ..., Weightₙ are the corresponding weights (as percentages) of each assessment
Final Exam Grade Needed Formula
To calculate the grade needed on your final exam to achieve your desired overall grade:
Final Exam Grade Needed = (Desired Overall Grade × Total Course Weight - Current Points) ÷ Final Exam Weight
Where:
- Desired Overall Grade is your target final grade (as a percentage)
- Total Course Weight is the sum of all assessment weights (usually 100%)
- Current Points is the sum of (Grade × Weight) for all completed assessments
- Final Exam Weight is the percentage weight of your final exam
Letter Grade Conversion
The calculator converts percentage grades to letter grades using a standard scale:
Percentage | Letter Grade |
---|---|
97-100% | A+ |
93-96% | A |
90-92% | A- |
87-89% | B+ |
83-86% | B |
80-82% | B- |
77-79% | C+ |
73-76% | C |
70-72% | C- |
67-69% | D+ |
63-66% | D |
60-62% | D- |
0-59% | F |
